Maths

Co Ordinator

Mrs Westwood

Ever since I started school, Maths has been my favourite subject. I have always enjoyed solving problems and seeing how different ideas in Maths are linked together.

I love battling against a puzzle until I find a solution, finding mistakes and learning from them until eventually everything drops into place. I feel like a detective solving a mystery.

I know lots of people think of Maths as being all about having rapid recall of number facts but it is so much more than that. It’s great to spot patterns and to see how so many of the key concepts in Maths are interrelated.

Maths has so many uses in real life. We look at these in school and think about all of the different things Maths helps us with; shopping is my particular favourite. We use a ‘Real Life Maths’ logo in school to help us think about when the Maths we are learning is directly used in real life.

I would love to hear about all the times you use Maths out of school.
