EYFS - Nursery
(Early Years Foundation Stage)

Our aim in Nursery is to offer children a joyful, secure, and enriching beginning to their school journey. We create opportunities for children to engage in activities both independently and with guidance from adults. We nurture a love of learning, foster independence, and confidence in their abilities, and help them build meaningful relationships with their peers.

We are always here to discuss any concerns you may have and look forward to building strong school-home relationships with you. It is our promise to keep you updated with the progress your child is making through the ‘Marvellous Me’ app, our termly Parents evening and our ‘open door’ approach.

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of activities and experiences that nurture all seven areas of the Early Years Curriculum

There are three prime areas:

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

Communication and Language Development

Physical Development

and four specific areas:

Literacy

Mathematics

Understanding the World

Expressive Arts and Design

The Autumn Term is a bustling time as children settle in and start forming new friendships. Our focus will be on Nursery Rhymes, a familiar and engaging way to support the beginning of their learning journey. We will also explore various celebrations from around the world. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to see your child perform the Christmas carols they have learned in class.

In the Spring Term, we broaden our understanding of the world by exploring different countries and their native animals. We will also study the changing seasons, observing how weather patterns affect our lives and the growth of plants.

During the Summer Term, we delve into traditional tales and familiar stories, predicting their endings and discussing the characters' thoughts and feelings. We conclude the term with a focus on the seaside, exploring different types of holidays and ways of getting there.

At the end of the year, we will be preparing our children for their move into Reception by visiting classes and meeting new teachers.

You are always welcome to visit school to chat with staff in our Nursery setting, or otherwise contact the school office.
